It’s a designer tradition to throw a bad one in with the good ones so that there’s one they won’t pick… and that is usually the one that they do.

Clients always pick the wrong one. It happens with copy too.
I learned the hard way. NEVER show a design you don’t like; the client ALWAYS picks it. Then you kick yourself every time you have to use it.
The best is what I call the “mash-up”. The client combines elements from about 4 different logo ideas to come up with the ultimate abomination.
Guys – I have experinced this at the office entirely too often. Alas…when non-art-types make visual decisions…FAIL!!!
